Chapter (4) A ZEBRA HAS STRIPES

 

Once, a zebra called Geoff, he lived in a herd

With his friends on an African plain.

That's a place that is flat and is covered in grass

and everything looks much the same.

 

Now Geoff, he was covered in stripes head to foot

But he often felt sad and quite blue,

all his friends had stripes too, and they all looked the same

and poor Geoff couldn't tell , who was who.

 

So Geoff he decided he wanted to change

To be different, but how to begin?

So, he stood for a while, and thought, with a smile

And said, I must alter my black and white skin.

 

What's wrong said a chimp , who walked with a limp

You were sad but now your face changed.

The Zebra was glad, told why he was sad

The chimp said , that can be arranged.

 

The chimp had a plan that would help poor old Geoff

To forget his white skin with black lines.

So into the jungle the pair had to go

Geoff walked and the chimp swung on vines.

 

They stopped by a pool of water bright blue

Chimp said, you must close both your eyes.

This pool is magic, so you must go in,

When you come out there will be a surprise.

 

So trusting the Chimp, who walked with a limp

The Zebra, eyes closed, jumped right on in.

He paddled and swam, said, how happy I am

Then asked chimp when the change would begin.

 

The chimp said, you'll see, as he hung from a tree

Open your eyes said the chimp with a grin

Don't you see, in the water, look hard can't you see

You now have white stripes on black skin

 

Geoff went home very happy. He is the only black Zebra in Africa with White stripes. ????
