Chapter (5) THE CHIMP WITH A LIMPA Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMANTHE CHIMP WITH A LIMP A chimp had a fight with a lion one day, Who bit off his leg and then ran away. "I need a new leg." said the Chimp as he hopped, Then by a big tree he suddenly stopped.
For there on the floor was a branch the right size, And the Chimp had the answer in front of his eyes. "That's just what I need, now who can I ask." For chimp knew, this would be, a most difficult task.
A very large ape, eating fruit, sat nearby, Who said, "I have some sharp tools, so please let me try." Then the ape took the branch which he carved and he chopped, And he worked day and night and just never stopped.
When he finished next day, the leg looked just right, Then he gave it to Chimp, whose eyes lit up bright. Chimp fitted his leg, made of wood, to his stump, Then fell from the tree to land with a bump.
He soon learned to walk and he felt really proud, And as he was dancing there gathered a crowd. They clapped and they cheered, they were having such fun, Chimp felt so happy that he started to run.
Now a busy Gorilla, who was planting a seed, Said "That's really quite super, it's just what I need." He'd noticed you see, as Chimp ran around, That his new wooden leg left holes in the ground.
So Gorilla he planted a seed in each one, And in no time at all, all his planting was done. When chimp saw all this it filled him with pride, to know he could work just by taking a stride.
Then the ape that he knew, said " I can make you a shoe, It will go on the end and I'll fix it with glue." But Chimp liked his leg just the way it was made, He could work and have fun with his friends when he played.
"I really am proud." said the chimp as he stood, "of my lovely new leg that is made out of wood." © 2016 MAD ENGLISHMAN© 2017 MAD ENGLISHMAN |
