Chapter (13) THE DAY AFTER YOU LEFT.

Chapter (13) THE DAY AFTER YOU LEFT.

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

THE DAY AFTER YOU LEFT.

I stand and stare at the kitchen sink

I stand and stare I need time to think

so I stand and stare at the empty chair

I stand and stare but you’re not there.

I stand and stare and the room is bare

as I stand and stare and I cannot see

Oh where oh where,

Where can you be?

At the mirrored wall I stand and stare

and I see a face reflected there.

I stand and stare but do not see

the face the stares right back at me.

I stand and stare for a ringing phone

I stand and stare I stand alone.

I stand and wait and hope and pray

that you’ll come home to me one day.

This is sad, sweet, and simplistically eloquent. Not too good to wait for people but there's no harm in feeling some longing once in a while. There's something bittersweet about that. Thank you for sharing :)

You are very welcome
Thats kind of sad, but the rhyming was great and the longing to see and wait for that person is very sweet and lovely. i liked this poem very much. and the repition there emphasized your will to wait for that person in a way that can make your world stop.

There's an eloquence to this that I simply adore. It's quite beautiful, Clive, and makes for a most touching Valentine to one, lost.

Thank you for reading. Glad you enjoyed it.
We do, in our shell-shocked state of grief half expect them to come through the door again - to say their usual phrase - to sit on their chair and to have a meal.
Well written M.E.
