"

AN OLD POEM TOLD TO US AS SMALL CHILDREN.

"

I've been trying to trace this poem. My parents would recite it to us when were small kids in the 1950's.

If anyone knows this poem or has any information please leave me a message. thank you.

We have a nice shop in the nursery today

Will any of you come and buy.

I’ve apples and oranges, sugar and jam,

Matches and soap and freshly cooked ham.

If you’re in a hurry and want something quick

My telephone number is 2 double 6.

My shop’s near the window

I call it woods stores,

Old buttons will do for the change,

I’ve marjories bricks that I sell for the cheese

Mummy has given me some old garden peas

My telephone is but a brass candlestick

Remember my number is 2 double 6

2 double 6 “Hello is that woods”

Oh yes Mrs brown I have sent you the goods.

You ordered some rice is that what you say

I’ll send it along with the tea, good day.
