Chapter (1) A CHRISTMAS WISH

Chapter (1) A CHRISTMAS WISH

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

A Christmas Wish.

Outside the snow was falling, and all the land was crisp and white,

when Santa on his sled of red, came speeding through the night.

With magic dust upon their hooves and bells around the sleigh,

The Christmas stars twinkled bright, to light the reindeer's way.

Around the world in every home, sleep little girls and boys,

all snug and warm and tucked up tight, they dreamed of elves and toys.

The Christmas trees all lighted, the mistletoe is hung,

And churches filled with Choirs, their Christmas praises sung.

Rudolfs’ nose it glows bright red as he leads the reindeer team.

Then upon the roofs they softly land, while children happy dream.

With practiced ease he passes through the chimney pots and walls,

and without a sound he places gifts ‘neath trees for one and all.

Then morning comes and children shriek to find their stockings filled,

while smiling parents stand and watch, to see their kids so thrilled.

Bright paper torn the children play, with cars and dolls and books

and in the kitchen mother sings, as the Christmas lunch she cooks.

Just down your street a family wakes, their house is cold this year.

No tree awaits, no presents bought, the mother sheds a tear.

They’re on their own, monies tight, they’re struggling just to live,

the children know she loves them, but she has nothing left to give.

So while you sit there snug and warm with bellies filled with food,

Please give a thought for others, and ask, where you might do some good.

It isn’t much, a simple gift, take time and go and call,

And say “By the way here are some toys and food and merry Christmas to you all.”

Please think about those less fortunate this year.

Merry Christmas and Happy new year.

Happy New Year Thank you for the flowers LOL
Always remember those with less and lend a helping hand. I help to run a drive each year to help feed 600 families for the holidays and still it does not feel like enough. It is hard to balance one's joy against other's misery. We must always be grateful for what we have and share what we can. Thank you for reminding us of the true spirit of giving.

It is hard keeping the spirit of helping others alive the rest of the year.
I spent Christmas afternoon at an old folks home; it's something I've done for the past three years now. Don't do much, just sit and chat, mainly listen, like the others who give their time.

It's not much, but it doesn't take much does it.
