Chapter (2) A CHRISTMAS MORNING

Chapter (2) A CHRISTMAS MORNING

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

A CHRISTMAS MORNING

Bright patterned paper parcels waiting,

With ribbons gold, green and red,

while children peaceful sleeping, dreaming

Of the stockings hanging on their bed.

The snow falls light throughout the night,

Brings dawns white land with blue skies clear.

Crisp frosts that shine the morning light,

Will soon resound with children's cheer.

White berried Mistletoe above the door is hung,

While pricked green leaved, red berried Holly

Drapes the mantle and the stairway rung.

Silent sleeps the home this eve so Holy.

He flies the skies on magic Reindeer wings,

Sleigh trails gold glitters on heavens black.

White whiskered wizardly joy he brings,

With toys and joys packed in his sack.

I'm on the list , I've not been missed they cry,

Children, bright eyed and filled with awe,

When gifts and presents stacked they spy

Around the tree, upon the floor.

Before the dawn of day they wake and rise,

And parents all await this morning scene.

With stockings filled they come with cries

Of Mummy, Daddy look he's been.

HE'S BEEN.

This is a joyful and upbeat poem...I liked how the poem ended with 'He's been' - there is a strong touch of anticipation and excitement in these two words, making the reader feel as if the children are standing right in front of them, beaming brightly and looking out of the window up into the vanished trail where Santa once passed by. Thank you for sharing the poem!:-)

This poem sort of reminds me of my christmas nightmares
Because, the snow (since I'm wheelchaired) seems like a bright place
"Mummy, Daddy," I seems like the calling out for help.

I can;t be sure if that was what you wanted as a reaction, but that's what I thought.

i have, very much enjoyed this poem, and those beautiful words "He's been" are the joy of any parent.

I used to love picking holly with berries from the lane and putting it across the mantleshelf when mine were young.. and there was always a sprig of mistletoe above the door..wonderful memories.. thankyou

Thank you so much. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new Year.
Ah, it's just so magical when the little ones wait all night for the beauty and awe the morning has to bring. There is nothing quite like it. You've captured it here beautifully.

I'm happy you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Clive.
An eloquently expressed poem to capture just how wonderful this holiday can be to the innocent not yet exposed to the commercialism of Christmas.
