WRITTEN FOR A GOOD FRIEND FOR THE BIRTH OF HER FIRST GRANDCHILD.

"

A  NANAS' LOVE

When you were born, your mum asked me to be there at her side,

And when your Daddy held you my heart was filled with pride.

The joy you bring into our lives, plain words cannot explain,

And through the years, as you grow up that joy will still remain.

And now,

My precious little bundle so tiny and so frail

I cherish you with all my heart, and pray I'll never fail

To love you unconditional, protect you from all harm,

watch over you each day and keep you safe and warm.

That's what Nanas do,

You are my first born grandchild, I shall be standing there with you

And as you grow, and years pass, I will help to lead you through,

I'll cry when you're unhappy, and laugh when you are glad

I'll help when you're in your troubled times to stop you being sad.

A place to calm your worries, and for  your secrets hide

When all the world's against you, I will be there as your guide.

Then,

When you are grown and Nana's gone remember all the love

That I shall keep on sending, from high in heaven above.

Thank you for such a meaningful comment.
THat is a ncie thing for a grandmother to say.It has a rich greeting card quality. What I would like to say to my grandchild, if I had a grandchild.

In the second to last verse, "world's" should have an apostrophe.
