Chapter (10) SOUL MATES

SOUL MATES

I'd never planned to live alone,

I read a book, watched TV, sat by the phone.

One lonely night the idea came

I need someone or I'll go insane.

So searched the net like I'd been told

And after hours knew I'd struck gold.

 

Now life has changed beyond compare

I hear soft footsteps on the stair.

Her form delights in every way

As I stand and watch and hope she'll stay.

By the bedroom door she stops to stretch

What does she see in this poor wretch.

 

She eats in slow deliberate silence

So I sit and watch and wait in patience.

We share our days in peace and bliss

I hold her close, she gives me a kiss.

That we love there is no doubt

And of our love we need not shout.

 

By the firelights glow our evenings glide

She sits curled on cushions by my side

Flames reflections flicker in green eyes bright

Contented we lay until dawns new light

She is my love,  She is my joy,

                   She is

                  My cat.
