Mr. Kunkel

Mr. Kunkel

A Poem by EmKay Bee
"

A poem about a very special man in my life who taught me a lot, but his biggest lesson was to always open up to people and allow beauty into my life. Substance can control me and it's not worth it.

"
You're important to me, but don't ask me why.
Just know that I think, you're a heck of a guy.
An older brother of sorts, an answer to some prayer;
But we never built forts, see, you came in much later.
I look up to you, I'm your biggest fan,
And as if on cue, I reach out my hand.
But you look for answers at the bottom of a bottle.
I wish you wouldn't, you're a crappy role model.
One day you'll need me and I won't be around.
You'll look up to see I am nowhere to be found.
See, I left long ago, in the middle of the night.
I needed to grow, so I caught the next flight.
I wish I had the chance to tell you goodbye,
But you never saw past the drink in your eye.
You're so much more than just a drunk,
I hope one day you drop all that junk.
Your wife will need you, your kids all will too.
Happiness is here, you just have to choose.
Drink and it's over, look up and it's yours.
You don't need a clover, just open your doors.
Beer won't save you, neither will rum.
I promise you love is better, than just feeling numb...
