All he could hear was his feet thumping down the old beaten path. His heart was pounding in him; in his head, his throat, his ears. His entire body was pulsing. He could feel the life inside of him. The brisk air filling into his lungs and his blood, so refreshing. It felt as if he was replacing everything broken in him with heat, and life, and energy. For every stride, every gasp of oxygen, he released something from within himself. Every morning he left behind on that trail. Something that flowed out of his mind, out of his heart, through his veins, out of the souls of his feet. The trees flew by in a red and orange blur, his body follows his eyes that, follow the winding path he's traveling. He's run the same route so many times now, he could probably do it with his eyes closed.
