For a good friend...

And if I may, I have to say

I have made many mistakes

But I’ll try to be a good man

to take the things you cannot take.

 

And if I may, I will pray

to be the one whose burned.

Because I’m used to all these fires,

its something that I’ve learned.

 

And yes its true,

I won’t lie…

I’ve burned my share of bridges

I’ve fallen trying to fly.

 

But after all these years

there’s a few things that I know.

That we can take all these tears

and make our garden grow.

 

And every day, I will say

That you’re the morning, not the sun.

The world wakes when you arise,

You decide when its begun.

 

The world’s not fair, but I swear

I’ll try to keep you safe.

To be the best that I can be for you,

if only for your sake.

 

But this is true,

I won’t lie…

I’ll be there to wipe your tears,

every time you cry.

 

Yes, I will be there to catch you

every time you fall.

I’ll be looking for your number

if you ever need to call.

I will listen,

if you ever want to talk.

And I will carry you,

when you find that you can’t walk.

 

You say, take me as I am.

I say,

I’ll do the best I can.

After all, I never claimed

to be a perfect man.

 

Because if I may, I have to say

Thanks man. I think I wish I could sing and play an instrument, because a lot of my poems are songs in my head. I just lack musical skill of any kind lol I just understand what it 'should' sound like.

I would change the title, only because the first line is so close to it. It also reminds me of the twinkle little star bit. I could see this being a indie folk song, easily.

I wrote as lyrics, really, so I titled it after the words that's used the most. What I do when I can't think of anything at the moment lol I'll likely change it later.
