A Poem by MachinaWriter
"

A poem about loss...

"

Standing alone in this gallery

            thinking of you

and thinking of me

thinking of us

when we were happily

together as one,

and together we’d breathe…

But we’re…

speaking songs

that should be sung

taking shuddering breaths

in our heavy lungs

closing our eyes

when the days begun…

yes the days begun…

Yet, I’m standing alone

in this gallery

made of all our memories

how you held me high

and I held you close

and I don’t know why

yeah, no one knows,

the reason why…

-why you had to…

You’re an empty room,

and I’m an empty smile

it came too soon,

though its been a while,

another year

and I tried to dial

           your number again…

And its back again,

our yearly reunion

together again, as a family

and I carry with me

my gallery

of photographs,

-so you can see

how I’ve grown and changed

would you be proud me

-of what I’ve come to be?

But I’m still…

speaking songs

that should be sung

taking shuddering breaths

in my heavy lungs

closing my eyes

when the days begun…

           has the day begun?

I’m breathing life

through clouds of smoke

-struggling to find

a ray of hope

still smelling your scent

in all my clothes

And every day

I feel so alone

walking back

to my empty home

trying again

to call your phone…

And though I’m young

I’ve got an aging mind

trying to find

a grip on time

because its fading away…

And this senile soul,

has a dying heart

and yet I’m denying the toll

while I’m falling apart,

will this be the way…?

Because I’m…

speaking songs

that should be sung

taking shuddering breaths

in my heavy lungs

closing my eyes

when the days begun…

             So I decide to breathe.

I almost want to cry every time I read these. I just try and put myself in your shoes but can't pull myself to imagine... Thanks for sharing all this.

Thanks for reading it, that means a lot man.
I say this so often, but once again, this is one of my favorite pieces of yours. You're constantly blowing me away, and this did nothing short of that. The flow is beautiful, it fits together so perfectly. The idea is lovely, the story told is great, and the entire piece falls together so beautifully that you can't help but smile during and after the read. I would tell you my favorite stanza, but I simply can't choose, for the entire piece is simply beautiful. Amazing job, my friend, as always. x

Melodic and smooth. Your fight with reality reminds me of a fish tring to breathe without of water.

And though I’m young

I’ve got an aging mind

trying to find

I can relate....
It seems that life is always chipping away at our hearts...bodies...and minds. It's a shame that our living collections and galleries will eventually fade to grey. We lose it all..our thoughts...hope....clarity.

You really aced this one. The rhythm was perfect, the content bursting with heart and soul. This could easily be a number 1 country hit. Great job.
