She GlancesA Poem by MachinaWriterA poem...She’s sitting by
the window, -she’s watching the
moon. She turns to look
around her, -at this cold and
empty room. She holds her arms
close, -she’s hugging her
chest, As the moon draws
lower, -the sun at its
crest. And the stars are
within her, -they shine in her
eyes. A comet shoots by
them, -but she closes and
hides, beneath shut
lashes. My cigarette is
burning, -neglected to
ashes. Because when she
glances -there’s a trance
in her eyes she tries to hide… Circumstance has, Given me a chance, To find a romance And never let go… And when she talks
it’s a waltz, -her voice dancing
through my mind. And in the night
when she writes, -somehow she finds
what’s been inside, my soul just
longing to be free. And this room may
be empty -with nowhere to
lay, But there’s room to
go dancing, -if you’ll just
stay here with me. Because when she
glances -there’s a trance
in her eyes she tries to hide, A sadness inside, -though she never
cries. And circumstance
has, Given a chance, -to break from this
trance, With one final
dance. And the sun it then
rises, -the night leaves
no trace. And the light it
adorns her, -this beautiful
mourner, Softly caressing
her face. And I think then I
know, -as she’s cast in
that glow, That we were meant
to be, Can’t you see? Your voice is
singing in me. And it tells me to
hold you, -close as we dance. But we’ve chosen
this stance, -silent, across an
empty room. But with a glance, She breaks the
trance, And I hold her
close, We start to dance… The empty room,
returns to colour Its filled with all
our things And as she spins,
the world begins To open up and
sing. She stops and she
talks, -her voice such a
waltz that it spins
through my mind. I realize in that
moment, -she’s left the
pain behind. Her soul is
finally free. © 2012 MachinaWriterAuthor's Note
