Nostalgia

A Poem by MachinaWriter
"

A poem...

"
Early light casts,
Upon a bed unmade.
Rumpled covers,
-absent lovers,
the memory will fade.

Reminisce,
-old reveries
I stare upon,
-the autumn trees.
Through my window,
-and think of Spring.
Think of you,
-remembering:

Late nights,
-still awake.
Talking, laughing,
-'til dawn breaks.
Cigarettes,
-I still have yet,
To clear,
-from the ashtray
To keep regret,
-out of way.

Laid in bed
-pillow talk.
But now our figures,
-are drawn in chalk.
Disappeared,
-faded.
A memory,
-abated.

But it doesn't last,
-I make the bed.
I clear the memory,
-from my head.
I dump the ashtray,
-and look away.
From the window,
-and face the day.

I wrote this poem as an example for my first blog entry "Setting the Stage". The blog was a sort of mini lesson on how to create imagery and set the stage for a place in a poem. Check out the blog and let me know what you guys think, but also let me know what you think of the poem ^^

the rhyming time was spot-on, nice job with that. It had a nice beat to it that I could follow all the way through and just enjoyed reading it in general.

alright, I'll go check it out.
Great imagery, I can picture a lonely soul without his partner trying to move on. A profound, and sadly relatable write for many.

This is quite beautiful. All of your work is beautiful in its own way. I think this was very fitting for your blog entry, and it stands alone wonderfully.
