Morning Cigarette

Wrote this poem kind of spur of the moment...

Necessary, every morning

Even before my first thoughts start forming

Waking up, I find my BiC

Placed on my bedside, next to my pack of cancer sticks

Opened up,

Ready to start the day

Take a drag, and then I’m on my way…

Author's Note

Was smoking a cigarette and reading the word Newport written at the bottom when this came to mind. Wrote it down right away. Never really done a poem like this, so let me know what you think ^^

I very much liked it. It reminds me of my own addiction. Hahaha. I can't help but smoke, especially when I'm writing. It helps me focus and keeps me from bursting during stressful situations. Your poem is very short and to the point and so shall my review. I loved it.

lol Thank you. I don't smoke in my house, so I've had to take to making cigarette breaks during my writing. I've noticed that most of my best lines and verses seem to come out when I'm smoking, though. Now I take a notepad with me when I go out to smoke. I couldn't think of a word to write, though, on this night. I was reading the word Newport and then this came to mind.

Well, it was an amazing outcome. I don't smoke inside either, though. I usually just take my laptop out with me or a notebook. They're very handy. I, personally, have four that I carry around with me.

I like it! I like the simplicity and the flow of this. It reminds me of my mother because she and alot of my family smokes. But I never will.

My mother often scolds my friends when they use the term "Cancer sticks" because she says that our words have power and no one wants what that word could cause; And I really can't say I disagree with her at all, really.

Taking a break from the melancholy usual to find simple pleasures. Or just to calm the nerves of what comes today. I'm not a smoker, but I like it.
