Shrouded Night

Shrouded Night

A Poem by Hamish McIndlister
"

Love betrayed.

"
You gave me love I thought would never end

Then you showed me the door.

You made me think I was special to you

But that isn't true anymore.

You took back the heart you said was mine

To keep and protect through this life.

And while taking it back you also took mine

Ripping with words just like knives.

Now I walk along lonely byways,

Unable to find my way home,

Knowing that I don't belong anywhere

I am cursed to forever roam.

The stars sparkle like diamonds

Spread across the midnight sky,

Shining the way your eyes always did

Before you stole my love and life.

While you dance through the days

Sharing your love so freely,

Remember the one who once loved you so

Who now roams the death shrouded night.
