Love and Hate

Love and Hate

A Story by Madeline Derujinsky

Love can turn to hate so quickly, the feelings changing in the blink of an eye. You think the crushing came when you walked out the door, but it really arrived when you kept walking. You are simply just another blockade in the hallway that I have to push around. I turn a corner only to run right into you, but you don’t even spare a moment to nod your head. The feelings of depression overwhelm me as I bounce from group to group to find my place, and the one place I could get away from you in, well hello here you are. I love you, and I always will. But I also hate you, I hate you very much. I hate you for breaking me, I hate you for asking me to be your friend, I hate you for pretending that we had nothing and ignoring the fact that we were ever a we. I love you so much that I hate you. And I miss having you in my life and now I am begging for your friendship, but I’m pretty sure you hate me too.
