Push and ShoveA Poem by Morgan YaiThis is the first poem I've written in a while. I don't know what inspired it exactly, but it just sort of came out. Let me know what you think, thanks.
Push and shove
In places Where it shouldn't be In ways That it shouldn't be Innocence of a young girl Taken Only eight years old And felt so ashamed Threats Can't tell or he'll hurt them too Push and shove In what should be A safe place Maybe not A safe place The eyes of teachers They look They turn away It's only a game Threats Can't tell or it will be worse tomorrow Push and shove Hey, Mom Put down the bottle Dad, please Working again No one to play protector Pain But then they say Words can't hurt Threats Only one more year until eighteen Push and shove But love Isn't it worth it? Baby girl Isn't it worth it? Shouldn't grow up without a father Forgive He brings flowers And says sorry Threats But it's only because he's tired Pushed and shoved Into a rut Can't get out No. Break the pattern Strength is yours Here Take it Use it Push and shove The bad Let it leave The pain Needs not be suffering Your inner workings of greatness Free it Allow it room it needs To grow, to mature Time The only difference between an old yesterday And a new tomorrow © 2016 Morgan YaiReviews
