The Other Side

He tells me that the shop's closed and that my teacher's out of town. I thank him and leave the shop with a sort of contentment. I realize that my mom has driven away without knowing what happened. I could've chased after her silver car, but something in me made me stop and watch as the car grew smaller and smaller. I sighed. What to do? I knew I had about thirty minutes to kill before she came back. I started to walk; soon with a slight bounce in my steps too. I felt light-hearted and giddy. Must've been from the mocha frappe I had earlier. As I pass by shops and cars, I glance at my reflection. My hair, curled from sleeping in a bun last night, hangs down my back; and even though I'm dressed in black sweats and a plain white shirt, I feel naturally beautiful. For once, some sort of pride runs through my veins which causes me to stick my chest out, hold my head high, and walked with attitude as if I were the most beautiful girl here. 

I turn at the corner, and start walking downhill. A feeling overtakes me and I start humming and doing small twirls as the wind plays with my hair. Without a doubt, I know nature is with me right here, right now. Birds chirp and the plants sway with my hum. I clutch my music book and start singing aloud. I cautiously look around to see if there are any pedestrians because my singing is notorious for shattering windows. Safe, my voice automatically grows louder and louder thanking God for this moment. I slowly close my eyes and breathe in everything. When I reopen my eyes, I'm greeted with autumn red leaves gently floating around me, creating a breath taking scene. My heart swells with joy as I watch God paint this scene before my eyes. Just then, my mom's car pulls up beside me and with a slight disappointment, I get in. My mom scolds me for not calling her and telling her about what happened, but I regret nothing, because I just saw a part of the world that no one knows of.
