The Travels, Life, and Death of a Born Romantic

The Travels, Life, and Death of a Born Romantic

A Poem by M Walser

hissssssssss

steaming experiences like
a sauna's stealing of my breath
and Ole' Faithful
faithful to erupt

geysers of mess cover for miles
with Chernoblyl radiation
carrying after shocks
that inspire the muse

musings,

music,

amuses,

bound in unturned pages
unread stories
a peace never found
with eyes opened

secured under lock and key
complex diary,
or field guide, maybe
accompanied with a note of warning

BEWARE

love suppressed
rendering locks useless

ventricles glowing
arteries
veins illuminating

love sedating

minutes and hours,
days and months,
years and decades,
passing by heedlessly

aged infatuations
matured admiration
winds of time blow
tumbleweeds through this
desert station

stranded and hanging
like a leather mail pouch
with undelivered love letter stuffing
on a rustic lamp post
posted at the edge of rotting
wood platforms
a temporary soapbox of my declarations

love at first sight romance
advances down one track mind
whistles blow
and travel is lazy
lulling into Rip Van Winkle sleep
the click clack tapping
resonates eardrums kept to the ground

subtle alarm of the L's rhythm
moves to the beat of an exhale finality
one last hoorah and one last kiss
a death clasp of dark fingers

fading into apparitions
of an angel posing in a
black sun dress
accentuating the beauty of
crimson rose gardens
