Remember Me

Remember Me

A Poem by Sunbear

Remember me -

In every drop of spring rain,

In every rainbow after a summer storm,

In all the colors of autumn,

In every crystal snowflake.

Remember me -

In the song of the wind blowing through the trees

In every bitterroot that blooms on the hillsides,

In the laughter of a bubbling stream,

In every mountain sunrise,

Remember me -

In the pungent, earthy odor of autumn in the woods,

In the spicy fragrance of sagebrush on the wind,

In the soft perfume of apple blossoms,

In the sweet smell of fresh mown hay.

Remember me -

In the song of the Meadowlark,

In the call of the wild Geese

In the cry of an Eagle,

In the howl of a Wolf.

Remember me -

In the jagged peaks of the Bitterroot Mountains,

And in the majestic snow-capped Missions;

I’ll be on the highest peaks

With my heart free and my spirit soaring

Remember me -

With smiles and laughter…

Because that’s how I will remember you.

Author's Note

The lines "Remember me with smiles and laughter, because that's how I'll remember you." were something I'd heard in a movie or TV show a long time ago (sorry, I don't remember which one), and they've been stuck in my head for years. The poem was written around them.

Thank you Jessicab - Nature is a huge inspiration in everything I do!
Those lines are terrific inspiration. “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all." ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

I like your poem and the sentiments of your themes.
