Today I BelongA Poem by SunbearToday I belong to the trees, Leaves rustling soft in the breeze, Sun glimmering bright through their leaves, Today I belong to the trees.
Today I belong to the meadow, I lie hidden in tall grassy shadow, Soft mounds ‘neath my head like a pillow, Today I belong to the meadow.
Today I belong to the clouds, Soft white and billowy shrouds, Floating so slowly and proud, Today I belong to the clouds.
Today I belong to the river, It ripples and calls me hither, I could sit alongside it forever, Today I belong to the river.
Today I belong to the valley, Sculpted by rock, hill and gully, It offers me reason to dally, Today I belong to the valley.
Today I belong to the wind, My troubles and cares it rescinds, And cleanses my soul deep within, Today I belong to the wind.
Today I belong to the desert, It’s environ so vast and covert, A Cactus Wren warbles a concert, Today I belong to the desert.
Today I belong to the canyon, Cliffs glowing in rust, gold and crimson, I hear ancient songs of a Shaman, Today I belong to the canyon.
Today I belong to the mountains, Waterfalls flowing like fountains, Their jagged peaks covered with aspen Today I belong to the mountains.
Today I belong to the ocean, It beckons me with a wild notion, And stirs my deepest emotion, Today I belong to the ocean.
Today I belong to the sky, Where the Eagle is soaring so high, I feel as if I could fly, Today I belong to the sky.
Today my soul sets itself free, How could I ever foresee, What the future holds waiting for me, Today my soul sets itself free. © 2014 Sunbear |
