My Favorite Time of Day

My Favorite Time of Day

A Poem by Sunbear

My favorite time of the day

Falls between evening and night

When the mountains are but silhouettes

And the stars begin twinkling bright.

The nighthawk takes over the sky

As the meadowlark nestles in bed

A coyote serenades me

And a bright full moon shines overhead.

The chirping of crickets begins

And the flexuous bats fly with ease

The apple tree leaves slightly rustle

Stirred up by the cool evening breeze.

As dusk slowly fades into dark

The world disappears, though it seems

But I wander inside to my bed

And relive it again in my dreams.
