DespairA Poem by SunbearShe stared out the window and held back a tear, For the whole outside world she once held so dear
Was passing her by, so quickly it felt, She sighed and considered the blow life had dealt.
She knew not how, when or why it had come, But her soul fell deflated, her spirit was numb.
It seemed rather cruel, how her world had crumbled, Shrinking smaller and smaller, until it all tumbled
In shambles and tatters, it all fell apart. And as hard as she tried, she just couldn’t restart
The fire once in her; now doused, grey and cold, Never again to be daring and bold.
She was always a fighter, a survivor at best, But life had taken its toll and she felt such unrest.
How she longed for a feeling of warmth and contentment, Instead of this lingering sense of resentment.
She wished there was someone to love and inspire, Give her strength, reassurance, and re-light the fire.
A hand on her shoulder, a gentle embrace, A sweet, loving smile shining down from his face.
Someone she knew she could trust without fear, Who would comfort and love her, and always hold dear,
Her love and affection as personal treasure, As brilliant and priceless as gold - beyond measure.
Would a time ever come when she felt once again, The familiar old vigor she felt way back when
She was free and alive, and ready to face, Any challenge or hurdle; any time, any place.
It doesn’t seem possible, everything’s lost, But she must keep on trying, no matter the cost… © 2015 Sunbear |
