"Let's be friends instead."

"Let's be friends instead."

A Poem by Gabriel Firebrand
"

Dedicated to two women I loved. Azyle and Floorender.

"

I treated my first one like a princess, but she left my throne.

I treated my second one like a queen, but she abandoned my castle.

Came back the princess, to bury me in stone.

Am I really a king that much of a hassle?

Or am I even a king at all, am I merely incapable

Of being understood, that love for me is no easy gamble

I'd have given you the world, but you refused to believe me

Now, I'm longing for someone to make me happy

"Let's be friends instead" is the norm

They couldn't understand where I was coming from

That when I love a princess, I'd treat her like one

That must mean neither heart I'd really won

Should I post a sign, "Loved One Needed"

Do I have to show them that I'm really defeated?

I keep my words! I keep my promises!

Why won't any girl I love come to their senses?

Now broken, I'm unable to fight

Desperate for a princess who'll never leave my sight

Azyle walked away, Floorender surrendered

Seems like no one would be able to last with me forever
