Canceled ContractA Poem by Marianne RoseA spiritual journey
The windchimes fall silent in the chill of the morn,
remnants of violent dreams cause them to mourn. The hush of near dawnlight has muted each bird, suspended a dark night with one single word. "Sleep", the voice whispers, "and do not awake". Joy quickly withers inside each heartbreak. Seductive and charming, the voice casts a spell: The tone so disarming, a sound I know well. In silence it conjures a stream of the past with no time to ponder, it moves by so fast. My mind is enraptured, my body lies still; The sunrise is captured by his iron will. I silence alarms and watch the film play, not taking up arms to fight for the day. The dawn comes to spite him, no warmth do I feel, the rays remain too dim to cancel the deal. The birds call to wake me from paralyzed sleep, I cannot shake free of the lies of the deep. Caught between planes of darkness and light, two kingly reigns, one lifetime fight. I still the projector, remember the call, of angel defector from the time of his fall. But no spell can steal me from who I've become, I rise to be free and know where I've come from. Another word voices the call to awake; I break with past choices to heal this heartache. Now into an age of suffering and fear I bring forth the sage and sweep this life clear. The contract is broken, the shadows depart. One true word spoken paints a new work of art. © 2016 Marianne RoseAuthor's Note
