PeregrineA Poem by Marianne RoseA peregrine falcon lit on a tree in my backyard, and I wrote this song.
1. Dawn-light comes and young peregrine
Finds a home in my backyard Still as a living stone Majestic as a work of art He gazes upon the awakening of the day I can hardly breathe from such beauty 2. One turn of his head and his silhouette Commands respect and honor Even the breeze is stilled A quiet falls as deep as grace All are awaiting his calling upon the sun To rise up and bring us the morning (Refrain) Carry the light on your wings as you Sail through the morning sky Where will you go, my young falcon, now that you've conquered the night? Carry the light on your wings as you Sail through the evening sky Come back tomorrow young falcon I'll be here to hail your flight 3. If I had your wings my young peregrine I would rise above this place Riding the breath of God Above the clamor of our race Visioning sound waves of peace sweeping 'cross the earth Songs of majesty and of beauty (Repeat refrain and first two lines of verse 1) © 2016 Marianne RoseReviews
