Midsummer's DreamA Poem by KidAnthonyI shall use no names, For those forbidden lovers named are forever exposed, Forever to live out their days of anonymity in the spotlight No longer will the secret thrill of a forbidden fruit excite them, For it will be on everyone's lips. Figuratively and literally. The secret passions of a vagabond and belle... Dare I believe I have already said to much, No, her secret is safe with me. I, one who is bound to the darkness and is to wander the murky depths below While she, an Evangeline soars high above. Her feathered wing brushes against mine of weak leather. She attempts to pull me into ascension, while I fight her advance. "It is not my world to live in. You are to rule the heavens as I am to rule the underworld. Our love shall remain forever bathed in midsummer's twilight, Forever in heat, but obscured from sight." With a single angelic tear, she takes off into the sunlight. I shield my eyes and return to my cave, forever waiting the time that we are to slip back into ambiguity, And be reunited with my lady love, once again.
