CompensareA Poem by KidAnthonyA poem of self-destruction and revelationI sit upon my throne as my world collapse around me The walls cave in and the roof collapses, And all i see is the red moon. The signs of change. Robed in the finest cloths of my land I stare in shock, My men are killed before me as the assailants smille and say, "Long live the king" They leave me to my torment, and all I can think of is you. The long days of fighting, the anger, the grief Do you remember them? Those days we spent together with the uprising surrounding us, Yet none of it mattered because you were beside me. The rebels climbed the towers and burned our flags, We remained unphased. But then it happened. A stray arrow found its mark in your heart as you slumped to the floor. The crimson flowed as your body fell, Broken. I could only watch as you smiled with your waning strength and touched the arrow, And as you fell lifeless, I felt something within me break. Soon I was found living in a memory. You smiling at me, Me yelling, Emotionless tears. I laughed to myself. None of that mattered now. The red moon was upon us with the winds of change. I arose from my crumbling castle, your body decaying beside mine, And I walked away.
