My Buddy, My Bestfriend

A poem for my dog

I still remember
your paws on my stomach
and your sloppy wet kisses

How you always wake me up
with a sudden jump on my chest
or a tickle on my nose

That puppy eyes when you are hungry
and that wagging of tails when you're happy

How I love to cuddle you when I'm cold
or when we run as fast as we could

You were my buddy, my bestfriend
half of my life was yours
and when you died
my half died with you

If one wants to know what it is to love unconditionally have a child...if one wants to know what it is to be loved unconditionally ...get a dog
