Melpomene

Melpomene

A Poem by yuhee
"

One of the the nine Muses and minor goddesses who entertained the gods on Mount Olympus and inspired the poets, dramatists and authors, such as Homer, who lived in Ancient Greece.

"

on her head a crown of wreath

made from cypress and weed

tragic mask hung across her hip

on her hand the golden dagger glints

sirens would weep in shame to her heavenly voice

even Morpheus, god of dreams was lulled to sleep

songs of worship and divine

when she sing, lo! tragedy begins

she offers promises to those she loves

but disaster, she gives to whom she hates

history spoke nothing of her name

but only tremendous catastrophe she had bring

on the fifth night of blood moon she was born

sweet darling daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne

Melpomene

a singer

a goddess

a muse
