Old Man River

Old Man River

A Poem by MOON

Sometimes I glimpse your face in the pink tinged dawn

It’s of love and grace and nothing to mourn

Sometimes the tears bruise my heart

And I am torn apart

Sometimes I wake in the silence of the night

Every word you spoke alight

Sometimes I wonder how it is

And where we find release

From the coldness of death

How do we waken from our bed?

Sometimes I know love continues to grow

Even after the grim reaper sows

Sometimes all I need is a word

A hundred lifetimes for your voice to be heard

Sometimes I hear you tiptoe in my soul

And for a moment I find the broken pieces, I am whole.

incredible gift to be able to read such vision, brilliance to be able to write with it. this is a poem that flows as a river, about a river, and a reality that has often been compared to a river. all three flow simultaneous within these words. beautiful.

I feel the sorrow in this piece... the longing to have the broken pieces put back together again. Simply Beautiful. Great write.

Oh how memory and a few kind words bring us an incarnation of those we loved. In a way I suppose they are like your mountain, hidden away in the folds of memory until a surprise journey is made to uncover them once more. In that way I suppose that those we love, part of them, always remains with us.

I loved the lines "Sometimes I hear you tiptoe in my soul/And for a moment I find the broken pieces, I am whole."

Beautiful amid the sadness. The words have a soft rhythmic flow much like the sentiment expressed. I'd be hard pressed to chose one line that stands out but , "Sometimes all I need is a word
A hundred lifetimes for your voice to be heard
Sometimes I hear you tiptoe in my soul
And for a moment I find the broken pieces, I am whole". This is intense ..Must add this to my favorites :)

It's so beautiful! It has this emptying effect on me that makes me feel the absence of a major part of me. It's so hollowing and emotional! I love encountering work like this. There really aren't enough deep and meaningful artworks like this in the world...

The title you chose for this is amazing. Levels of meaning are skillfully woven into this poem that flows with that same symbolic and mystical winding of its namesake. You take the reader through the quandaries of life and the emotions of loss, love, grace, and heartbreak.
"Sometimes I hear you tiptoe in my soul
And for a moment I find the broken pieces, I am whole." favorite lines although all is wonderful and moves like a hymn

There are those who just complete our life without reason or rhyme.

Sometimes I know love continues to grow
Even after the grim reaper sows

Love those lines.
