Whence

Whence

A Poem by MOON

I looked from whence I could see the stars; there were days clouded in ice and days

where the sun  lifted me on orange rays

and yet here I am still behind veiled bars

Sometimes ivory clad sometimes silver steel, the endless ringing echoes

a mind laid waste in a thousand ghettos

sometimes a floundering fish on a reel

I looked from whence I could see the stars, these were nights of shattering displays

of dreams that once smouldered but now decays

the cold dying for things that never was

This makes me think of the many coats we wear , innocence of ivory, the the shiny reflective skin of steel, the fleeting skin of stars that whisk us away to something beautiful.

The second stanza has very strong lines and makes the mind think. Decaying dreams sometimes need to be revived. It makes a profound statement.

WoW, this was beautiful, enchanting, and terribly melancholy. The depth of this poem goes beyond me, I'm sure, but I love what I can see. The way the first stanza tells of days and the last of nights is brilliant, and the simple line "I looked from whence I could see the stars" is soul-touching.

Glad to read it. :)

A deep and emotional write. You truly dream through the darkness.

WOW Moon this is almost like a classical poem. Enchanting!
It took me a while to understand your language,
but I don't care if it consumed my time;
the words and sounds itself made me enjoy
the piece for me not to leave without understanding!

I suck at deciphering cryptic poetry and I'm not afraid to tell the author. LOL But there is definitely a disenchantment within this. Sometimes we reach for something and everything seems like it's going our way but then the inevitable impasse pops up throwing another roadblock in our way leaving us back to the same old place. Hope I was close.

Bars are bars, whether steel or ivory. Beautiful, keenly felt.
