Valour

Valour

A Poem by MOON

Like a leaf in spring at play, gently into the night I go

You the shelter in my storm, love is all you show

When the breeze whispered, no more, it is time

You took away all the pain, Daddy there is no crime

For every loss on every flickering dying day

You held my hand you showed me the way

When I asked for an impossible star

To light my darkness, to carry me afar

You did not shun or walk away

You gave me grace where I lay

If this is not the truth and all is a lie

Lord forgive me, just tell me why

A soul has to suffer then die

I am tired, I am worn

All I ask is a glimpse of dawn

At the hand of a person I trust

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Strong and honest thoughts shared.
"I am tired, I am worn
All I ask is a glimpse of dawn
At the hand of a person I trust
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust."
The above lines could stand alone. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Since my dad was an abusive scoundrel, I usually cannot relate to strong loving feelings as you've expressed here, possibly toward one's father . . . but I'm also catching that an unnamed tragedy may not have happened to the father, but the narrator is just wishing the father was there to help guide & heal thru the tough stuff. This is one of the most powerful expressions of grief I've ever read, without getting all purple prose about it (not sappy, full of drama). This feels as if spoken by a very strong person and even tho the father is evidently not there to lean on, I get the feeling this narrator will survive in a strong way becuz of ever-present vestiges of such strong supportive family love -- something I did not experience in my life, but that I can definitely feel from your words (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

this is all pretty... Taking that hand can be a scary proposition but the alternative is far worse. cradle that adoration forever to your core it looks good on ya

This is a poem of grief, apparently for a father, but also possibly for the speaker, who may be dying. It is very well rhymed, expresses weariness for the presence of death in the world. The last four lines are especially impactful.

wow, i miss my dad so much...this reminds me of him...always there, always strong, always the one to lean on...and then his downfall...he became weak physically and mentally...but the love was still always there.
beautiful tribute, Moon.

Putting blind faith in someone is the only way to love... it is always a risk worth taking.

I guess life is about choices, good or bad. Some can cause us pain, happiness depending on source or motive. I sensed a sad story here, a kind of little chastisement to a parent. May the healing be powerful. An excellent write as usual Moon. .

This is a love story that is generous in letting the reader in; the love for moon, for the right person, for the moon and the right person at the same time. We must trust ourselves to make our lives works. Self-trust is key to moving forward into our dreams.

Bravo, Moon!
