Fragile

Fragile

A Poem by MOON

Fragile

So shattered a mind that breaks in song

Weeping sad tunes and echoing words

You the split mirror for far too long

Now in pieces flying with the birds

In the rose silence of the hour

Where the wind blows and rattles the bones

I wonder if the late spring shower

Would grace the fragile mind now alone

Once you caught my eye held out a hand

Tenderly grasping at the straws of love

Now you have taken the olive wand

Retreating grey folds of a shy dove

Sing now my heart to the skies so clear

Solitary ballad on your own

Is it the human touch you now fear

That makes your heart turn into bleak stone

You now marching to your own drumbeat

Is this protection or just defeat.

It is defeat. I have known people who had nothing left. Most got strong again and learn to survive with different tools and goals. I like your description. Some stories have a bad ending. Old world need a tender touch today. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You most certainly know how to break my heart with words. It is truly bizarre to me how such heart breaking things can sound so beautiful. Makes me wonder why even if the smallest way we are drawn to the darkness in life instead of pursuing the light. This is incredible and it was my pleasure to read it!

Thanks Mia always for your kind words.
A poster for homelessness has the tag line "We are all just one wage away from being homeless."
Your poem shows us that we are all just one thought away from being mind-less.
I wish you strength MOON.

Thanks Anto for stopping by , there for the Grace of God....
Love is one of the great pains someone could cause himself! It`s beautifully expressed, dear Moon...So vivid, gentle writing from your soul strings...I love it all, impressed from your rhymes...
I wonder if the late spring shower

Would grace the fragile mind now alone

We have to ask questions to our heart, in order to achieve real answers...as you do!

Thanks hon.
I have been fragile like this in my life... I hope never again. It is as bed watching a loved one in this fragile state as it is to be broken I fear.
When I was depressed it was like I could see this state of fragility and I hated it. Still, I felt powerless to change it.
You pen tender honesty and I know it is protection and in the writing of the poem defeat is no longer a question.

Thank you David so much for stopping by , take care!
Made me realize just how fragile life can be.. for all of us.. I went through years of suicidal depression, and ached when I could have shared such endless joys. May we find a way to strengthen each other every day... to set aside our differences and always encourage... here at the Cafe and everywhere else.

Thanks Craig awful I would imagine and loss of precious time , awful too to see someone going throug.. read more
The last line seems to foreshadow some sort of depression lurking around despite the elasticity of love, something the mentally bothered (myself included) find common. It also strikes me as settling to something in particular, a "heartbeat," perhaps a routine even?

Thanks Tai for stopping by watching people unravel is sad!
Fantastic.
A piece living up to its title in the truest sense: it has a real fragility to it.

Speaking as someone who has battled depression, some of the themes invoked here truly resonate with me.
I love the last line "Is this protection or just defeat?"
Its a question that were I able to pop back in time two or three years I could ask myself when I thought I'd beaten depression, but I was leading a very solitary and overly structured life.

Great piece of writing.

Thank you , will stop by read some of your words take care!
This is absolutely breathtaking, the final two lines really hit home for me,
One of the most beautiful poems I've read in a very long time, your use of words, meter, rhythm, everything is perfection,
It's a difficult balance maintaining a 'soft' tone in a poem that could easily be so depressing or defensive, but I thought you did so wonderfully!
