Shades of Grey

Shades of Grey

A Poem by MOON

There is no other just you and I

Living with me you thought you would die

A stone at hand and a reason why

Burning in me liberations sigh

A flame of a township in my heart

There is a stage and I have my part

All my shed tears now a work of art

Here is the new dawn here is its start

Nail all my hopes and dreams to a mast

Tell me freedoms song is iron cast

Forget bloody wounds it cannot last

Cold memory a train flashing past

Hear the pain filled drumbeat in the night

Swallow bitter pills of black and white

What a deep, rhythmic write that seems to march down the darkest paths to the sea... There is an overwhelming sense of dread, night overcoming the light.

"Hear the pain filled drumbeat in the night
Swallow bitter pills of black and white"

It was intense, nice!

Love is hard, loss is harder. There's a lot emotion driving this poem. The first verse of the 3rd stanza hit home for me. Nice work.

An awesome poem that rhymes beautifully ... A work of art...
I love the lines:
There is a stage and I have my part
All my shed tears now a work of art...
Out of this world...

Love can be so black and white, Moon. Funny how quickly those two colors can blend to grey. What I like about this poem the most is all the personal use of metaphor. It leaves me thinking about what trains and masts and drums mean to me. It really seems like, when in love, there is no one else and nothing else in the world, just stilled timed, like an old photograph. Nicely done, my friend.

"Cold memory a train flashing past" and from then on were my favourite lines. I'm not sure I understand the poem, though. . .
