Reasoning Behind a Mysterious Breakup

Reasoning Behind a Mysterious Breakup

A Poem by Madelaine

You see through squares.
I see through stars.
You didn't listen.
I did.

I spoke of the wonders that I saw in my dreams.
The way the sea glistened when the sun hit its blue surface.
The way ice in December resembled a necklace.
But you never dreamed.
I was silent.

You'd question, and pry
You kissed me a lot
You'd say kind words
But you didn't feel it
And neither did I

You're soul is soft, I'm not afraid to admit
But you were never me
You never tried
I remembered
You forgot
I cried

I stuck around for longer than needed
I still dreamed
You made me feel defeated

But after time had passed, when I finally said no
When I was done with your whining
And I said I had to go

I realized that I
Never dreamed
About you

The outer body experience of two different dreams, not meeting. And like your
poem "once" there is this underlying feeling of frustration that being ineffectual
brings.

"when I was done with your whining
and I said I had to go

I realized that I
never dreamed
about you"

That the 'kisses and the kind words' were ok as short burst of pleasure, but you didn't
really feel it. And if you don't feel it, it's not ok to dream of it.

Nicely written.
