Kill The Tree

Kill The Tree

A Poem by Bark's Lounge
"

Dealing with the death of my brother

"

I lost my brother

I lost myself

I cannot recollect

Yesterday’s color

Although gain is evident

With courtesy abound

As a tree I am rooted

In unholy lands

Who picks up the shovel

To dig a moat

Fill it with water

Soften the dirt

Who removes me from home

Holds me in their care

Lightens the load

Plants me again

I shake people’s hands

But I don’t know why

Don’t know the situation

To have sight

But blind

I believe in something

It’s hidden from me

I have a soul

Still I am painted an atheist

Who picks up the axe

Cut me down

Killing the present

Existing only in paper

A villain is wanted

To carry that load

The blame is on me

For killing the tree

I lost my brother

I lost myself

I cannot recollect

Yesterday’s color
