Dark Side of the Street

Dark Side of the Street

A Poem by Bark's Lounge
"

Left up to the audience

"

All of the beat poets are dead
Carnivals and Freak shows have dissipated
I miss the grayscale, the black and white
The feeling of dread when art goes away

The love of living on the dark side of the street
A place to belong, a place to believe
Pulling the shades 24/7
Have to stop the light from creeping in

When the real world arrives
With the Sun so high in the sky
It's like holy water to a vampire
A silver bullet for a werewolf

I guess the lesson is the dark side of the street will retreat
If you are not disciplined or dedicated enough
To learn that lesson well, should have learned it long ago
Enveloped in light
