'Muricah today

'Muricah today

A Poem by Morgan Purcell

Living in their parent's basement
Converting to over-zealous patriotism
futile attempts to mask their racism and greed
Others avoiding this first hid, then marooned mapless in thunderheads of green smoke
Nobody stays still, the trees must think we're all lunatics and so do I,
unhappy with not being places not needed to be
Righteously spending swindled pockets of  unearned money
while debating welfare and spitting on the poor
Angrily worried about their "Right" to own access to murder
While children fill children with holes before knowing how to read.
More concerned with plastering their lives and shoes with American flags
All the while spitting socialist and redistribution as excruciating slurs
All Christians in the land of the free.

"Forgive me father"
"forgive Me Lord"
"forgive me Father"
