The Cruelest Farewell.

The Cruelest Farewell.

A Story by Mustafa Abuhamdeh
"

every forty seconds, someone in the world will slit their wrists, or take an excessive dose of bills to end their existence. Why? When did the face of death become more alluring than that of life?

"
All of us are guaranteed a dance with the Grim-Ripper, we were promised that this dance which would be played upon a silent music in a large-dark stadium, would end all our suffering. Religiously speaking, it’s stated that death is merely a gateway to another life"an eternal one, where “death” is no more. Consequently, those who don’t follow religious interpretations are entitled to believe that death is an end, where the body would decompose allowing the soul to take in a new life form. Death comes upon us in various ways, there’s the former ordinary way where you would grow white-hair, in an old body while surrounded by your loved ones and decease peacefully, or the one where you end up as collateral damage in a terrific accident, then there’s the technique that has become systematic in our era, a way where one decides that the world would be better of them, and takes their own life, hence, suicide. A cruel method which has seen a 65% increase in the last 45 years, with over a million total worldwide deaths. But why? What could push someone to the point, where they will take their own life with no persistence? When did the face of death become more appealing than that of life?

Every forty seconds, someone in the world will slit their wrists, hang themselves, or take an excessive dose of bills to culminate their existence, they will have, principally, raisin the white-flag in this war of survival, but why? Because their romantic relationship has vanished, but couldn’t they move on? Or is it because they have lost their jobs, couldn’t they just find another one? Grief, remorse, rejection, and breakups are common reasons amongst suicidal-attempts, said motives always seem to be incomprehensible, alien and in some cases wholly incompetent to us. Though we portray we know how it feels to be in someone’s shoe, it’s impossible to imprint how and what they feel, we may only have an unpretentious clue. That’s because we differ in our sets of principles and priorities, for someone’s, their professions are their lives, and for others, their affairs are their lives. For the reason of our differences in the perspective of principles, we sometimes unknowingly downgrade and ignore one’s views, thus putting a label on them and demanding them to change their “erroneous” goals. As we live in a world where it has become almost impossible to avoid human interaction, when someone notices that their goals are being ignored, they will tend to think that their dreams are silly and will try to place themselves in a place that’s socially acceptable but personally invaluable. Such action will put their mind, body, and soul into the Dark Mode.

Stress, anxiety, and restless-thoughts (overthinking) are emotions that enhance the willpower for one’s suicidal tendencies, the three attributes of one’s destruction, the only three adjectives that can destroy a castle, burn down a farm, collapse systems, end desires, and thoroughly disseminate lives. Those three attributes were leading qualities in the taking down of criminals, and great thinkers, it never mattered whether it was an eagle roaming the skies or a lion leading the land, said feelings always lead to apprehension, and apprehensiveness could bring the best of all time down. They put whomever they infect into dark mode, alias, Depression. Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings, and sense of well-being. It invades one’s mentality after a situation in which ones feel belittled, bullied, betrayed, heartbroken after people endure such revolting feelings, their thoughts darken, and souls become empty, their struggle for life starts to appear meaningless, and that’s where suicidal tendencies emerge.

The immense majority of people with suicidal thoughts do not carry them out to their conclusion; some come out only as “attempts” some of which were deliberately pre arranged to fail or to be exposed. Those whom voices were unintelligible, will resort to such acts to get a hand which would guide them out of depression. Suicide is a mental-disease, and people with it show certain symptoms, like sudden alteration in their facades, fluctuating between moods in an instance, isolation and the appearance of being trapped, self-criticism, and finally speaking of their suicidal tendencies openly. According to a study, one in five of the people who attempted suicide had consulted someone before committing such acts, but they weren’t understood, or the answers they received were as useless as the typical “breathe in and out.”

Whenever you hear the term “This is going to sound silly” from someone, know that they have illustrated what they are about to describe at some point and were belittled, words always leave a permanent scar on someone’s heart. Many people who committed suicide, died alone, they show the signs but nobody was there to perceive them, they may have found peace, but have left their loved ones with countless inquiries and an eternal self-blame. If you carry any aligning thoughts to suicide, confront them with confidence, realize that whatever your dream may be, it is indeed achievable, and acknowledge that whether you are a saint or a criminal, people will always label you with revolting terms, be robust enough to tackle their words with success, not disappearance. Suicide has taken out many great thinkers, don’t be one of them.

Author's Note

Mustafa Abuhamdeh
In our daily lives, we were confined under social regulation and certain restrictions forced upon us, we avoid practicing our true selves and speak our minds because we urge social acceptance, so we preferably wear a mask, hiding under it all our thoughts. By using “Confess” I want all of us to confident to illustrate our thoughts and emotion without worrying about anyone labeling us for them. Our discussions will be carried out anonymously.
