A Poem 4 Ronnie

A Poem 4 Ronnie

A Poem by MzIzzy
"

My cousin Ronnie was murdered in 2005. This poem was supposed to be read at his funeral but I did not have the strength.

"

A father, a brother,

husband,

cousin,

a nephew, uncle

 friend too,

Ronnie, this one's for U.

I can remember all the joy you did bring,

Remember in the back room,

You'd play drums, I'd sing.

I could never gain the nerve to let you

record my voice on tape,

but you tricked me one night;

The memory I will not forsake

You always were there for me

when I needed a friend;

never judged me -  for we all do sin

You cared for me, when most didn't understand

Oh, how I wish I could hold your hand

Hug you, and tell you, things will be okay;

Instead my cousin, this is what I pray

Heavenly Father Jah,

Bring my family peace,

Keep us focused on your promise

A new world,

A new lease,

All pain and suffering will be no more

Wickedness and evil

will cease to be;

A world where your children can all

be free

Free to love

and be loved

by each and everyone;

A kingdom ruled by your son,

I know the battle is almost won

So Jah in the meantime

Let your spirit guide us through

Help us to remember

You raised Jesus,

we have hope of a resurrection too

In my pain I've found comfort in knowing

Ronnie is at peace - asleep

Heavenly Father give us strength, for today we weep.

All Praise and Glory to Jah

in the name of Jesus

                       Amen

You will forever be stenciled in my heart.

 Forever Loved

Your cousin Kim
