DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE

DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE

A Poem by MICHAEL

Above all
I am your friend
Someone who doesn't demand anything
other than for you to be you

I will listen
I will talk
while you listen
for you must be my friend too

I'm stuck in the fishing net
or is it the fishnet stockings
one thin strand of gold
circles your right nostril
while deer brown eyes circle my soul

I know I'm going to get hurt
but that one moment of heaven
is worth it

It's amazing how relationships coalesce
all the blending of heart and desire
on the verge, on the cusp
on the corner of Martindale and Hillside
on the bus
bright wood shining

Such a thoughtful write. It seems to come straight from the heart. I loved the ending and the way you intertwine the words to play back and forth with each other. Good job!

The older I get the more I realize how complicated relationships are. THe good, the bad, the ones you know are toxic but feel so good. You did a good job of getting all the emotions out in the open with this one. Powerful writing.

i love the song by leonard cohen that shares the title of your poem... that is what drew me towards it.... i like what you have written... love is a big net that we willingly get caught in and it is the struggle and the experience that keeps us coming back for more...

i really liked this a lot

So very true...in order to love...you must be friends first and foremost. I have loved as deeply...and gotten hurt, but in retrospect, I wouldn't change a thing.

Great write!
