POSSUM

POSSUM

A Poem by MICHAEL

Summer has morphed to fall

not rudely

as butterflies are thrown

or puberty takes hold

but softly as leaves decay

Neighborhoods I used to roam

perched on chrome fenders

Mickey Mantle chattering in the spokes

Now I ride alone, old

Streaming videos

Face the future as something else

I do not know

mediocrity,

I muddle through
