Maggie was a goody two shoes, and when she notices he new kid, Dark, she is determined o become his friend, but this guy doesn't want anything to do with her. will maggie ever figure out his secrete?

"

Maggie Van Monk, Sarah Andrews, John Curtis, Rob Darnell, and Ryan Lois were all walking to school, together, of course, as usual. They all met at the corner of state street and the u way to walk to school together, and it’s been that way ever since the first day of seventh grade. They were all best friends, except Sarah and John, who were a little more than friends. They had all been like that ever since they were little, but now they were all fifteen or sixteen, and growing up fast. The years were passing, and it was already June.

Jon was hitting on Maggie, but she punched him. See, it was all good because they don’t let that stuff bother them. They had been friends ever since they were little and nothing could really come between them.

“Well, summer vacation is coming up,” Said Ryan.

“Yeah, the year’s gone by SO fast!” said Maggie.

“Soon enough well be free of this place; Sweet old summer vacation,” Said Ryan.

They walked up Grover High School’s steps to see some scary guy they’d never seen before with tattoos all over his arms and black hair the length of his shoulders, and a pail face, with nothing even close to a smile planted on it. Instead, he had lip piercings on both sides of his lips. He was wearing a leather jacket and baggy, ripped jeans. All five of them were staring at the guy, and so was everyone else as they walked by. He didn’t seem to pay any attention to the other kids though..

“What are YOU staring at?” he asked them and then walked into the building, without waiting for an answer.

“I’ve never seen him before,” said Sarah.

“He’s probably a new kid Sarah, and Maggie, DON’T GET INVOLVED!” said Ryan, and he took another bite of the taco he was carrying.

“Well, he probably doesn’t have any friends yet. I’m going to go talk to him later,” said Maggie.

“Why would a guy start coming to a different school during the last month of the school year? I’d just quit school. It’s not like a week or two will make that big of a difference.” Said Ryan

“Maggie, it’s great you want to be friends with the new guy, but really, this doesn’t seem like a good idea. Just look at him,” said Rob

“I’m going to anyway. Don’t judge a book by its cover. If we did, do you think we’d be friends with Ryan?” said Maggie.

“Hey!” said Ryan

“Wait, when did we start talking about books?” asked John.

“Oh my gosh John, you are such a blond! Just keep walking!” said Sarah. It was true; John was a blond, but so was Sarah, so they were perfect for each other.

“Hey, I wouldn’t be talking, Blondie.” Said Ryan

“We’re not talking about books and I’m going to talk to him. He’s probably a really nice guy, but everybody, like you guys won’t talk to him because he looks like… that,” said Maggie. She walked into the school with pride, and without another word to or from her friends, and went to her first class.

“Well then, someone’s al little determined,” Said John.

“Or, someone’s looking for a boyfriend so she doesn’t have to deal with lover boy over here,” Said Ryan.

“Hey, I’m not a lover boy!” insisted Rob. Whatever you say lover boy!” teased Ryan

“Hey, I’ll catch up with you guys later,” said Maggie

“Where do you think you’re going Blondie? Asked Sarah

“Sarah, I’m not even blond,” said Maggie

“Well, sorry, everyone was talking about blonds!’ said Sarah

“And Books; we were talking about books too!” added John

“Ha! Ha! That’s funny because blonds and books don’t go together at all!” said Ryan

Sarah gave him a weird look and the disregarded what he said. “So, where are you going?” she asks Maggie

“I’m going to talk to the new guy. Didn’t I say that a few minutes ago?” asked Maggie

They all walked into the school and began to roam the halls until class started.

“Maggie; why are you so nice and like a goody goody? I mean, like man up!” said Rob

“Yes, and you’re one to be talking,” said Ryan

“Hey, I’m a man!” protested Rob

“I admit, he’s got a point there,” said John

“I am a man John! What do you know? You wanted to pick an ice-cream cone off the sidewalk and find who owned it! ” said Rob

“Not about you! Maggie, you need to loosen up. He’ll find friends; gosh, scary friends. You don’t need to be metaling into other people’s business!” said John

“I do not metal in other people’s business!” said Maggie in her defense.

“Hey, yesterday you kept telling me what to wear!” said Sarah

“Yeah, because you asked me if you should wear the blue skirt or the pink skirt and I said the blue skirt,” said Maggie

“Yeah, I like the blue skirt,” said John

Sarah slapped him.

“Owe! I mean… yeah, and like the other day when we were getting ice-cream…”

“Oh no; not the ice cream again; haven’t we heard enough about ice cream for one day?” asked Ryan

“Rob, there’s never enough ice cream for one day. Anyway, you told me to order the chocolate vanilla swirl!

“I didn’t tell you, I suggested it, and you were taking too long and we both know we could have been there all night if I hadn’t help you decide sooner or later!” said Maggie

“Wait! You two went to get ice cream together?” asked Sarah

“You were there blond!” said Ryan; taking another bite of the taco as soon as the word ‘blond’ came out of his mouth.

“Oh yeah; never mind,” said Sarah

“Sarah’s violent and pushy!” Maggie said trying as hard as she could to change the subject off of herself.

“Not to mention annoying,” added Ryan

Sarah slapped him

“See!” Maggie blurted out

“Tell me something I don’t know,” said Ryan

The first bell rang.

“Well, I’m going to talk to him rather you guys like it or not, and there’s nothing you can do about it!” said Maggie, and she went to her first class.

“Well I’ve got to admit lover boy, she’s feisty,” said Ryan.

“Shut up!” said Rob, and he went to his first class. The second bell rings.

Chapter 2- Sorry to bother you

At lunch, Rob, Ryan, Sarah, and John were all sitting at a table together in the cafeteria. Maggie came out of the lunch line, and looked around the cafeteria.

“Hey, Maggie; Over here!” yelled Rob from across the cafeteria.

Maggie looked over and saw the new guy sitting alone. She walked over toward him.

“She probably didn’t hear me,” said Rob.

“Yeah, right,” said Ryan, and rolled his eyes.

Maggie sat down next to him. “Hi I’m Maggie. What’s your name?” She asked.

“Dark,” replied the new guy.

“Dark; nice to meet you Dark,” Said Maggie.

“Why are you here?” asked Dark.

“Well, uh… I just thought since you were sitting alone, you might enjoy having someone to talk to. Plus, since you’re a new guy, I didn’t know if you had any friends to sit with you,” said Maggie. She took a bite of her apple.

“I’m fine,” protested Dark.

“Oh…well, where are you from?” asked Maggie.

“Like you care,” said Dark.

“No, I do,” insisted Maggie.

“Are you always like this?”

“Like what?”

“Talkative and nosy?”

“Well, it’s just hard to start a conversation when you don’t know much about the other person,” Said Maggie.

“Like I said, I’m fine,” said dark, and he continued to eat his lunch. The lunch bell rang. He threw is fork on his tray and got up.

“We should do this again sometime,” Suggested Maggie. . She sighed. Ryan, Rob, John and Sarah all come over to the table Maggie’s sitting at and sit down with her. Rob put his arm around her. “It’s okay babe. He’s not going to open up. Why don’t you just forget about him and just carry on with our lives. Remember, summer’s coming up!”

“Did you see what he had on his tray? A taco,” said Maggie

“Okay… what’s so bad about a taco?” asked Ryan

“Funny you would say that,” said Sarah.

“That’s the only thing on the tray was a taco. No fruit or anything, and he only had meat in the taco. No lettuce or cheese or sauce. Just ground hamburger,” said Maggie

“Well, maybe he doesn’t like the food. Like, I hate the food here, but you know I’m not packing a lunch, so I just deal with it,” said Ryan.

“What’s wrong with packing your lunch?” asked Rob with a lunch pail sitting in front of him.

Maggie grabbed Rob’s lunch pain and slipped her tray in front of Rob. Then, stood up and walked away.

“Hey, Maggie; where are you going?” yelled Sarah after her.

The next period was Maggie’s study hall. She went into the room to see the teacher asleep, as usual. Dark sat at a table where he was writing on his homework. Maggie went over to him and sat down beside him.

“Oh my God, are you stalking me or something?” asked Dark.

“I’m just trying to be your friend. Admit it Dark, everyone needs a friend, even you,” said Maggie

“If I say we’re friends, will you leave me alone?” asked Dark.

“No, since I’m your only friend, we need to hang out a lot. Get to know each other a little better,” said Maggie. Rob put his arm around her. “It’s okay babe. He’s not going to open up.

“Fine, say something then,” said Dark.

“Well, I’ve got four other best friends in the whole world. Sarah, John, Rob, and Ryan, and we’ve been friends since like kindergarten, “said Maggie and she went on and on while Dark continued to work on his homework and said “Uh, Hu,” every once and a while.

The bell rang and Dark got up and left as fast as he could. Next, he went to the library and got a book. When he sat down and started to read, Maggie came up to him and sat down.

“Stop stalking me!” he commanded.

“I’m not stalking you. I’m your friend, and friends down stalk each other. They hang out together,” Said Maggie

Dark sighed. “What is it going to take to get you to leave me alone?” he asked.

“We’re friends, and friends are always there for each other,” Said Maggie.

“What are you trying to ask me out or something?” asked Dark.

“NO, NO; I just want to be your friend, that’s all,” Said Maggie.

“Please, leave me alone! How are you in every single one of my classes? I like being alone. I don’t want to be your friend. We can’t be friends,” Said Dark.

“Please Dark, I can help you. I’m really not trying to be annoying, but I get your vibe that I am. Why don’t we hang out at the baseball game tonight? You know, we can talk and watch the game together on the hill.” said Maggie.

“I really don’t think that’s a good idea,” said Dark.

“Come on, please? We don’t even have to stay for the whole game. Please Dark?” begged Maggie.

“Fine, but it’s not a date; I don’t want to date,” Said Dark.

“Sure, no problem; I’ll see you there and then,” Said Maggie. and she grabbed her books and walked away.

“Finally!” he said

Maggie came back over to him. “I forgot about the rest of the period,” she said and opened her books and started reading.

Dark grabbed him books and started beating them on his head.

             “Is everything okay?” she asked.

Dark rolled his eyes.

       Chapter 3- the game

At the end of the day Maggie went to the field to see Dark sitting on the hill, wearing sunglasses, waiting for her. She ran up to him and sat down beside him.

“Hi Dark, how was your first day of school?” she asked

“Bad”

“Why?”

“Because you were following me around everywhere I went!” he replied

Maggie looked around them. “Why isn’t anyone watching the game?” she asked.

“I don’t know. How am I supposed to know?” said Maggie.

“I was just asking. That’s all, and will you please take off those sun glasses!”

 “Are they bothering you?’

Yes, a matter a fact, yes they are bothering me.

“No, I want them on!” said Dark

“No, come on Dark”

“No Maggie, I want my sunglasses on!”

“Take them off!” she said.

“No,”

She reached out to his face trying to get the glasses off of him, but Dark continued to lean back, resisting and blocking Maggie. He fell backward and Maggie got on him to get the glasses off, but they both froze before she did. They began to get closer and closer to each other, until their lips were about to touch, but right

,             Before they could; Dark put his hand in the way. Maggie got off him and they pretended nothing happened.

“Um, so do you want to hang out again sometime again? Asked Dark

“Well, tomorrow is Saturday. We could go to the “Smoothie Empire” and hang out all day,” Suggested Maggie.

“Cool,” said Dark and just then, Sarah, Jon, Rob, and Ryan all walked up the hill to see them.

“Uh, Maggie, could we talk to you for a second, you know in private, you know, over here?” asked Sarah.

“Uh… sure” replied Maggie, a little scared.

“It’ll only be a minute Dark, and then she’s all yours.” Said Ryan and with that, the five walked away, excluding Dark.

“What are you doing sitting on the hill watching the game with the new kid?” asked John

“We’re hanging out, plus, we’re going to hang out tomorrow too!” said Maggie.

“Wait, you aren’t dating him or anything are you? Please tell me you aren’t dating him!” said Rob.

“Oh, don’t worry, we’re not dating Rob. We’re just friends, and it’s going to stay that way too, but he is opening up to me now,” said Maggie

“I don’t know Maggie; this guy doesn’t look too good.” Said John

“Stop worrying! Everything’s fine,” assured Maggie. She beginning to get angry with her friends opinion of Dark, so instead of dealing with it any longer, she just went back over to him.

“Sorry about that Dark. It was just my friends being annoying,” She said.

“It’s all good,” Said Dark.

The two watched the rest of the game together.

“Do you want me to walk you home?” asked Maggie.

“NO!” Dark replied quickly. “I mean, no, I can walk home myself. So, I’ll see you tomorrow at the smoothie empire.”

“Uh, yeah; I’ll see you then.” Said Maggie, and the two went their separate ways home. When she got home, she went straight inside to find her mom doing the dishes.

“Hey Maggie, how was your day sweetie?” asked her mom.

“Good. I’m hanging out with a friend tomorrow, okay mom?” asked Maggie.

Yeah, that’s fine. Actually, there’s someone who asked to see you, so they’re waiting in your room,” Said her mom.

“Dark?” asked Maggie under her breath.

            “Excuse me?” said her mom.

“Nothing mom,” Said Maggie, and she went into her room.

“What are you doing here?” asked Maggie, a little confused.

“It’s about time. I’ve been waiting for you to get home. Gosh you two take forever!” said Sarah.

“Why?”

“Because, I’m worried about you Maggie.”

Maggie sighed. “Does this have anything to do with Dark?” she asked. Sarah nodded. “Sarah, go home! “Ordered Maggie

“I’m just trying to protect you Maggs,” Said Sarah.

“I’m a big girl Sarah, I can look out for myself, thank you very much,” Said Maggie.

“I don’t think you should get involved with this guy. He’ll hurt you. I mean just look at him. Always wearing black, piercings everywhere, his hair, I mean just look at it that is not natural!” said Sarah.

“You think I’M going to get hurt? Look at John! He’s a freak! You nearly swallow each other. When you told me you were dating John, one of our best friends, I knew it wouldn’t last. Watch out for your own relationship and stay out of mine!” said Maggie.

“Ah, Ha; so you ARE in a relationship with Dark!” said Sarah.

 “I never said that!”

“Yes, you did; Just a second ago!”

“We just hung out at the soccer game and we’re hanging out tomorrow and… never mind, “said Maggie

“What do you mean, “never mind”?”

“Well, Dark and I were at the soccer game, and we came SO close to kissing, but we weren’t trying to, it just sort of happened. I was trying to get him to take off his sunglasses, and …well… I was practically on top of him. Well, anyway, before we did, he put his hand in the way,” explained Maggie.

“WOW! TMI! You must REALLY like him” said Sarah.

“That’s the thing; I even told him I didn’t want to date him. I just want to be friends, and so do him, well, not even friends for him. It just sort of happened.” Said Maggie

“Well, we’re best friends. You know you can tell me anything, right?” asked Sarah

“Yeah, of course.”

“Can I come with you tomorrow?”

“No Sarah! Go home!” ordered Maggie.

“But I can help you. I’ve been dating since I was seven!” said Sarah

“Go home Sarah!’

“FINE!” she said and she stormed out.

Maggie sat down on her bed, and fell back on the covers. She was frustrated, and tired, and just needed a break. So, she got under the covers a quickly feel asleep.

Chapter 4- a day with Dark

“WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!”  Said a voice. Maggie quickly awoke and sat up. Sarah was sitting on her bedside.

“Good morning sleepy head.” She said.

“Sarah, what are you doing here? Asked Maggie, as she rubbing her eyes.

“I’m preparing you for your date with Dark, silly,” Replied Sarah. Come   on in you guys!” there, entered John, Rob, and Ryan, all carrying shopping bags.

“Where did you want these Sarah?” asked John, struggling to carry the many, many bags.

“Oh, just over there by the dresser baby, unless you can’t get them over there. Then Ryan can just carry yours too,” said Sarah.

Yarnall/ DARKness                       page 16

“Hey!” said Ryan.

“Uh, shut up and get that tuff over there,” Said Sarah. The boys put bags full of boxes and hangers over by Maggie’s dresser. Sarah began to unload the bags.

“Uh, Sarah, don’t you think you’re going a little overboard?” asked Maggie.

“Yeah, I think you should just cancel this date with Dark, and we’ll just take all this stuff back,” Suggested Rob.

“Ha ha! Date with Dark. D, D.” said Ryan.

“Shut up! Now Maggie IS going on her date with Dark, and btw Rob, Maggie doesn’t like you! So you guys need to get out of here so Maggie can try on some clothes.” said Sarah.

“It’s NOT a date!” protested Maggie. “And this is ridiculous!”

“Oh, please Maggie. Now, get out!” said Sarah. The guys left the room. “Okay, why don’t you try this one on first?”

“Sarah, I don’t think this is a…Wow! That’s cute!” Said Maggie.

“Then try it on!”

Maggie tried on every shirt and skirt, pair skinny jeans and pair of shoes, and all the make-up. She finally found something her and Sarah both agreed on. It was a Red and black top with a pair of black leggings, and high heel boots. Her hair was put back into a long pony tail, with strips of clip- on pink extensions.

“This is my favorite… wait! Try on the third and fourth outfits again… or wait! Try on the third one’s top with the fourth one’s jeans,” Said Sarah.

 “Uh, NO!” said Maggie.

“You’re right. I like the first one better; Try the first one, one more time,” Said Sarah.

The guys walked in.

“How’d you get in?” asked Sarah.

“Uh, I have a key, duh,” said Rob

“Why do you have a key to my room?” asked Maggie.

“You know…for safety purposes?” said Rob.

“Well, it’s perfect timing anyways. Maggie is wearing the first outfit and now we need to do her hair and makeup,” Said Sarah.

“NO! NO! NO! I’m sick and tired of this! All of you leave right now!” said Maggie.

“But Maggie, we’re trying to help you,” said Sarah.

“No! Go right now Sarah!”

“Fine, whatever; Come on boys, get the bags,” Said Sarah.

“Wait!” said Maggie.

Sarah turned around. “What?” she asked, with her smile coming back.

“You can leave the bags here,” Said Maggie.

“Sarah’s smile dropped again. “Drop them boys!” she said. The guys put the bags back and the four of them trotted out of Maggie’s room.

“Maggie looked at herself in the mirror one more time, and then left to meet Dark at the “Smoothie Empire”

She walked out the front door and was immediately approached by Rob.

“Please Maggie! Don’t go! This guy is a bad idea! He looks evil and his name is Dark. There’s nothing about him that sounds good. He’s bad news, and I don’t want to see you get hurt. PLEASE DON”T GO!” he said.

“Rob, I can’t believe it. You of all people would judge him like that. He can’t help his name, and maybe he has a hard time expressing himself, so he wears all black,” Said Maggie.

“Maggie, I am putting my foot down. You are not going on this date and that is final!” he said.

Maggie stepped around Rob, pushing him out of her way, and continued to the “Smoothie Empire”.

She walked in to find Dark sitting at a table with two smoothies. Maggie smiled at him and sat down.

“Just to let you know, this ISN”T a date,” said Dark.

“Agreed” said Maggie. She took a sip of her smoothie. “What flavor is this?” she asked.

“It’s a combination of black cherry and liquorish,” Replied Dark.

“Ah” said Maggie, and she pushed the smoothie aside.

Suddenly, Sarah, John, Rob, and Ryan all walked in and crowded in next to Maggie and Dark.

“I told you I wasn’t going to let you do this,” said Rob, who was sitting to the left of Maggie.

“So, Dark; How are you doing? How’s it going?” Asked Sarah.

“Okay, I’m not going to deal with this!” Said Dark. He stood up and barged out of the “Smoothie Empire”. Maggie crossed her arms in frustration.

Ryan took a sip out of her smoothie. “UHH! What flavor is this?”  He asked. Maggie slid out of the booth and headed to the door.

“Hey Maggie, why are you leaving so soon; the party’s just begun!” said Ryan.

Maggie groaned and stormed out.

“Hey guys, maybe we shouldn’t have done that.” Said Rob

“Why? You were all for it a minute ago,” said Sarah.

“Well, it did look pretty innocent. Maybe they were just hanging out as friends like we do,” Said Rob.

Maggie zipped up her jacket and walked down the bitter cold city street.

“The part of town she was in was a bad part of town. There were a lot of homeless people living on this street. The town had lots of people hanging around outside doing drugs and smoking. Maggie didn’t enjoy being on the particular street, but she thought it was the direction Dark headed into, she went all around this part of town looking for him, but couldn’t find him anywhere.

Maggie walked on the sidewalk, covered in goose pimples, freezing, looking for Dark. She’d searched four blocks and she couldn’t find him anywhere.

“Are you cold?” Maggie turned into an alley and found Dark standing there. “What are you doing in there Dark?” she asked.

“This is where I go to get away from people, so, I’m here a lot,” Said Dark.

Maggie stepped farther into the ally. “Wow! This is weird,” she said.

Dark brought her next to a dumpster where there was ironically a staircase right next to it.

“A staircase; Why would there be a staircase in an alley?” she asked him.

“Well, as you can imagine, not many people know about this staircase.” He said and started walking up the stairs, with Maggie following.

“Where are we?” asked Maggie

“This is the, secrete, back staircase to this apartment,” Said Dark. They finally made it to the top to a door. Dark opened the door and lead Maggie inside. Maggie entered the room. It was a small, old looking apartment.

“Where are we?” asked Maggie.

“This is my apartment,” Replied Dark.

“YOUR apartment?” questioned Maggie.

“Well, I live here with my grandmother, Rosetta,” said Dark.

“You live HERE... I mean you live here. Hu, cool,” Said Maggie.

“Rosetta, come her. There’s someone I want you to meet,” called Dark. An elderly lady, looking to be in her sixties or seventies walked into the room into the shadows.

“Dark; No; Do you remember what I told you?” No People!” said the woman.

I’m sorry Rosetta, but it’s okay, She’s fine,” Said Dark.

“NO! LEAVE! LEAVE, NOW! DON’T STAY WITH HIM! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!” warned the woman.

“Maybe we better go,” Suggested Dark.

“Watch out dearie, don’t stay with him! Don’t stay!” she said again. They went down the stairs back to the alley.

“Sorry about her. She’s just a little cautious, so cautious, I have to be home before midnight, EVERY night.” said Dark.

“Wow! I didn’t think a guy like you would have a curfew, especially on a Saturday night,” Said Maggie.

Chapter 5-it all goes down from here

The two spent the whole day together, laughing, talking, and just having a good time, but ran into Sarah, John, Ryan, and Rob so many times, they lost count, but yet soon enough, they had to go back to the alley so Dark could get home before his curfew.

“I’ve got to get inside; it’s almost midnight,” Said Dark.

“Can I come inside with you?” asked Maggie.

“Uh… sure, but not for very long or else Rosetta will have a fit,” Said Dark.

They both headed up the stairs up to the apartment. They both sat down on the couch next to each other.

“I’m sorry today wasn’t so great. Sarah has been driving me crazy and she got Rob, Ryan, and John to go along with it too,” Said Maggie.

“It’s okay, it might be better if their around us,” Said Dark.

“Well, we’re not around them now. Is that okay?” asked Maggie, and she leaned toward Dark as if she was going to kiss him, but he stood up and Maggie fell on her face.

“Why do you keep doing that?” asked Maggie.

Dark looked over to the grandfather clock to see it was two minutes until midnight. “Rosetta is going to get upset if you don’t leave right now,” Said Dark.

“Well, you could have at least answered her question.” At the living room archway, stood Sarah, John, Rob, and Ryan.

“Why didn’t you kiss her?” asked John.

“Don’t you touch my girl!” said Rob.

“All of you need to get out of here right now!” ordered Dark.

“Why, is the whittle boy going to pass his curfew?”  Teased Ryan.

The grandfather clock chimed, midnight, and a full moon shinned through the, ripped, faded curtains. All of a sudden, Dark started to get pale. His eyes turned Red, fangs emerged from his teeth.

“Dude, Dark’s a vampire!” said Rob.

Dark started to approach Maggie with an unpleasant look on his face.

“Don’t you touch her you monster!” said Rob, and he ran at Dark, pushing him to the ground. Everyone ran. All the doors were locked, so there was no escape. Dark ran in all directions after them.

First, he chased Sarah. Sarah ran backwards until she was pressed up against the wall. Dark got right into her face, with his fangs drooping from his mouth, and just as he was about to bite, John threw a glass vase at Dark’s head. Then Dark ran after John in fury.

Yarnall/ DARKness                                                         page 23

“Hey, stay away from my best friend!” yelled Ryan, and he pushed the couch in Dark’s path. While he was out, Sarah and Maggie ran into the attic along with John Ryan, and Rob following. They shut and locked the door. Everybody took a deep breath.

“Woo! I think we’re safe,” Said Sarah. Suddenly, nearly a second after she spoke those words, Dark burst through the door. He started to chase Maggie again until she was pressed up against an attic wall. Maggie screamed for her life.

“Hey, you; stay away from her!” Yelled Rob. He quickly turned on the attic light. Dark feel to the ground. Maggie ran to the middle of the attic away from Dark. He arose after a minute. Ryan screamed and chucked a lamp at him.

“Dude, I’m okay now,” Said Dark. The fangs quickly disappeared from Dark’s mouth and his face began to restore to its original color.

“Oh, sorry,” said John.

Dark went over to Maggie. “Dark?” she asked him, still in shock of what she just saw.

“This is why I wouldn’t kiss you. This is why I didn’t want to get close to anyone. This is why I have to be home by midnight. I’m a monster!” said Dark.

“Dark, it’s okay. You’re not a monster. I still love you!” said Maggie.

“NO! It’s too risky. I could hurt you, or even kill you. I don’t want anything happening to you. You’ll be safer if we aren’t together,” He said.

“Well, can we at least be friends?” she asked.

“No, now that you and your friends have seen me this way, I must leave, but Maggie, I will NEVER forget you!” said Dark. Maggie hugged him and cried into his shoulder.

“But why can’t you stay?” questioned Maggie.

“Trust me Maggie. It’s for the best. I Love You Too Maggie. I will always be there in your heart, even if you don’t know it,” Said Dark. He jumped up onto the window, and without looking back at her, jumped out.

Maggie continued crying. Sarah gave her a hug. Rob held her in his arms and let her cry to him, but she pushed him away.

“O, yeah, I bet you’re so happy inside. Dark’s gone, so now I’m all yours. Well, thanks a lot Rob thanks a lot!” said Maggie, and she ran down the stairs.

“What did I say?” asked Rob.

“You are such an idiot!” said Sarah “Maggie! Wait up!”

“Come on man. Let’s just get out of here.” Said Ryan

“Wait! What did he say?” asked John, still confused.

“You really ARE a blond. It’s the first time I’ve ever agreed with Sarah,” Said Ryan.

“Women, you’ve gotta love ‘em, but they’re so complicated!” said Sarah.

                                 Chapter 6-back around town

Maggie wouldn’t talk to her friends for the rest of the weekend. On Monday, Dark wasn’t in school. Sarah, John, Rob, and Ryan could all tell Maggie missed him SO much.  After school, Maggie walked away alone, but Rob ran up after her.

“Maggie! Wait up!” he yelled. Maggie turned around and waited for her best friend. “Why are you in such a rush?” he asked.

“Oh, I just need to go somewhere before I go home,” Said Maggie.

“Where; do you mind if I come with you?” asked Rob.

“Oh, well… I need to go alone. Sorry,” Said Maggie.

“That’s okay… Then, I guess I’ll see you around,” Said Rob.

“Wait! Rob?” said Maggie.

            “Yeah?” said Rob.

“Thanks for helping me out the other day. Without you, Dark probably would have killed me. Plus, I’m sorry about what I said yesterday. You were just trying to help, and I totally freaked out at you, so, thanks,” Said Maggie. She gave Rob a kiss on the cheek and ran away from him.

She ran back to the alley and went up to the apartment. There was nobody in the apartment, so she went back to the staircase.

“You will meet again.”

Maggie turned around, and there sat Dark’s grandmother, sitting on the couch in the shadows. “You will meet again.” She repeated.

“But he said he was leaving. He’s gone ma’am.” said Maggie, and she turned around.

“You WILL meet again,” Said the old woman.

Maggie ignored her and started going down the stairs. Then, she turned back to her to see she had disappeared.
