Losing hope of having faithA Story by KJa series.. “Look at his profile” my mother showed me the
profile of an unknown guy in a matrimonial website. “Your father is getting old.
Don’t put him in pressure. It’s our duty to get you married. We need to be free
from all the duties. Your sister is growing up. We have to finish that duty
too.” Mother whispered. “If
it was a duty, then why did you give birth to us? You and dad could have lived
happily.” I couldn’t tolerate the word “duty” imposed on us by my mom. So
without thinking I had to say so. “It’s
not your fault. It’s our fault that we made you learn too much.” Mom said angrily
and walked away. Being
an Indian girl, Studied staying in a hostel for the past 5 years and then back
home. Parents were eager for a marriage before a job. “We can find a guy who is
willing to send you for a job.” My father’s brother gave an opinion when I said
I needed a job. Far
from all this, I had an affair with a guy, for the past 2
years. It started from the year of my Post graduation. It was I who proposed him.
I asked him to come to my house and speak. I, being a NRI and he coming from
ordinary family background in India made my parents reject my love. They needed a rich
guy, who had descended wealth. I dint say anything to my parents. Instead I
contacted my friend who was abroad to help me get a job there. I was sure that
I won’t get him if I had stayed with them. I
left my home town and worked abroad. I cried to him “please go ask for my hand
if you love me.” He was silent. I could only hear his breadth from the other
side of the phone. Each day I called my parents, they had one or the other guy’s
profile to send me link. I had only one answer to them “please consider my love.” On
the other side, Lidhin, my love, who asked his parents to come along to ask for
