To those who cared... RIP Trayvon Martin.

"No Justice, No Peace" you say walking the streets at night.

The American flag in your left hand and a lighter in your right.

You're angry-you aren't the only one.

The blood in your veins boil in outrage at the unbelievable outcome.

"No Justice, No Peace" you say with conviction.

Storm the streets, destroy it all, everyone needs protection.

F**k the judicial system that is so fatally flawed.

We all knew the government was nothing but a fraud.

"No Justice, No Peace" you say with hundreds of others at your back.

You are so angry that you're ready to attack.

It's not fair, it's not right, it's inconceivable!

When the ethical thing was so feasible.

"NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE" you scream standing in the street at night.

Vandalism at your left side and fire at your right.

You're angry-you aren't the only one.

And now you're in his shoes staring down the barrel of a gun.

I cared. As a father of four black young men I am winded by the verdict and the fact that I see few if any poets writing about it. I held my tongue on it and wrote a few poems about it but I didn't release them because I wanted to wait until the verdict. I was winded by the hit that Zimmerman's smile gave me. Murder is murder. In the end we have to look at each other and be honest with the legacy we are leaving for our younger generation. Beautiful poem and so poignant. I love your writing anyway but I loved the way you expressed the feelings of the masses and the situation. Bravo!
