Ashes

Ashes

A Poem by MNeilsen

Ashes cover my feet as I shuffle through
What remains of a once happy home
All around me lay the remnants of what used to be
Memories of what once was, but now is lost forever
Gone are the nights of overflowing love
And the days filled with laughter
These cold unfeeling ashes fill my days as
Anger and confusion join me now each night
Somewhere in this mess lay the answers I seek
Answers of what happened to you and me
I know that these ashes will reveal the clues
That my love blinded eyes missed through the years
Clues to how our life once filled with fiery passion
Fizzled into this pile of ashes

This is really great. I can connect with the this poem very much. I too wrote about a poem about ashes and flames relating it to a loss. Well done!

I feel such a pull to this poem because it feels as if I'm reading about something I went through. I am completely mesmerized.

Damn that's good!!!! I've been writing since I was 5 and you continue to amaze me! Knock it off. Just kidding. Seeing as California is on fire right now, it made me feel the poem even more!
