The PhoenixA Poem by Alex WaltersThis poem has multiple meanings. On the surface, it's a source-less narrator talking a phoenix through reincarnation. However, on a deeper level, I feel that it is my metaphor for surviving deep pain. The ashes shift As the fire's booming. Don't let the flames Be all consuming. Just wait it out, Now's not your time. Soon you'll show them All your shine. Just a pile of ash As the fire dies In an empty room With silent cries. The flames are dead. So let's restart. Ignite it again From within your heart. Can you hear it? Can you feel it? Now's your time. So get ready. Get up. Take it in. RISE. Take your wings, Stretch them far. Show the world Just who you are! Scream the scream Of a thousand suns! Feel the passion Of a life redone! The pain of the past Shall ignite your flight As you soar the room With a brilliant light. You took in the flames And you refused to drown So let's tear up these walls As we burn down the whole town! Show them your fire! Show them your pain. Show them your power As you're born again! So fly, soar, Run with the fire! Become the new self Of your own desire. © 2012 Alex WaltersAuthor's Note
