The road less traveled by...

The road less traveled by...

A Story by mrittika moyurakkhi

Looking back at the childhood, the only thing that Mounota can remember is that she has always been called as "hyper girl". Something is always burning inside her. There is some insatiable thirst resides inside her; that tells her to go forward. Something that gives her a thrust to venture for the unknown, to walk on the path less traveled by. People tell her that her eyes glitter like stars. Behind those hazel glittering eyes lies her loneliness which she never shares with anyone.
She never looked back, she never waited for anyone...she looked for none...she ventured for more;more and more. She never got tired of knowing, she never got bored of working hard. She knew she had to go a long way, on a way where she will be alone. It's only her and her work. On the apex of achievement she stood alone and she knew it from the very first moment of her journey.
She thought she will be okay. But today she is feeling restless. Holding the glass of wine on the rocks, she isn't having the feeling of being the rocky mountain herself. She is feeling alone. Changing the channels of the television rapidly, she finds nothing to distract her mind. She looks at the door, as if she is waiting for a doorbell. She looks at the window impatiently, as if she wants to draw a familiar face on the window pane. Then suddenly, turning her shoulder, she looks at the clock, as if she wants time to go faster.
She crawls inside her skin. She feels like a reptile. As if some other entity lives inside her who is trying to come out of her but she never let her to.  The volatile difference between the reality and the dreamworld of perfectness is confusing. She no more knows what she wants; she does not know how far she wants to go; she does not know where is the end of the epic voyage.
Just like an awakened mummy she walks to her bed. Like a drunkard she opens the drawer of the bedside table, brings out the sleeping pills and intakes all of them. Suddenly her head gets heavy, eyes get dizzy and she lies on the bed with the dream of her reaching her long-lost paradise, with the smile on the corner of her lips. :)
